In Sept. 9, 1850, California was admitted as the 31st state by the 31st Congress.

In 2005, the California state quarter will be issued by the U. S. Mint .

From September 2004, through the next 16 months, I will present a special program incorporating magic and California history, fokelore and legends.

For nearly 500 years, adventurers and settlers, artists and entrepreneurs have called California home.

Where else can you find the longest runway, the largest YoYo or the first cable car? Find out about the world's tallest tree, the camel, the first state newspaper, the longest waterfall, the world record frog jump and plenty of other fascinating facts about the Bay Area and the Golden State.

 In the basic one hour workshop, Alan The Amazing shows and demonstrates 10 magic tricks. Each child receives all the instructions and props necessary to perform each trick - FREE.

At the end of the workshop, each student will have assembled their own "Magic Kit." They also receive a specially prepared booklet. It includes instructions for an additional 25 tricks, a certificate of completion, and a bibliography of other magic books available at the library.

This is ideal as a stand-alone program. Or create a regular event where the children learn some magic and at a future date they return to present a show of their own.

 With our newest Environmental Awarness Show, children will learn the other 3 Rs - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Earth Day is in April. Our show has been modified from past shows. We now have a special focus on composting the children can do at home or at the school.

With the show Earth Day / Every Day, the children will know more about wetlands, wildlife, forests, recycling, and composting.

ATTENTION SCHOOLS LOCATED IN ALAMEDA COUNTY: Since I am a Master Composter through the Alameda County Waste Management Authority, I can provide your school a FREE composting bin. When you call to schedule the visit, ask for details. Please call early since we have a limited number.

 The numbers are in and children are having way to many accidents. Many of them are fatal, most of them could have been avoided.

Based on data from last year, when children were out on their scooters, in-line skates and bicycles, they put themselves at an increased risk for an unplanned trip to the doctor.

Helmets can prevent 85% of head injuries, elbow pads can prevent 82% of elbow injuries, and knee pads can prevent 32% of knee injuries.

Every 40 seconds someone in the US seeks medical care because of a dog bite. Each year in the United States, 200,000 preschool and elementary school children visit emergency departments for injuries sustained on playground equipment (about 1 injury every 212 minutes).

This new show is designed to incorporate magic with a message: Stop, Drop, and Roll; No, Go, Tell; Stop, Look, and Listen to name just a few. This 30-minute magic show is brand new and can be customized for children of all ages.

You can combine the show with one of these special events or plan it just before a vacation or break so the children will be up to "KNOW GOOD."
